​Master Sergeant Hollingsworth’s journey in the United States Armed Forces began in 1961 when he enlisted in the US Army Federal Reserves. After Basic and during artillery Active-Duty Training, he was employed to support the Cuban Missile Crisis. In 1967 he was honorably discharged to enlist in the Mississippi Army National Guard and later transferred to the Air Force Federal Reserves. He moved to North Carolina in 1984, and as a member of the Reserves located at Seymour Johnson AFB, Goldsboro, N.C., was called back to active duty in support stateside of the first Gulf War (Desert Storm). In 2002 Hollingsworth was assigned to the 363rd Air Expeditionary Wing, Prince Sultan Airbase in Saudi Arabia, supporting Operation Southern Watch (Iraq). Senior Master Sergeant Hollingsworth retired from active military service in 2004 with thirty-plus years of service and is now a member of VFW.
